Which categories should be part of the contest? I suggest:

Just a suggestion on the Best Post category. I found it really unwieldy trying to pin down Best Post in the Nunies. No one post was nominated more than once, and to accommodate all the various posts I had to use two polls, which is a little unfair. In addition a few people had more than one post nominated which may have diluted their votes (the winner had more than one and that didn't effect her. Still...)
If I do "Best Post" again in the next Nunies I'll do something different. I was thinking that the blogs interested in "Best Post" should nominate their own posts. First of all you ensure only one post per blog, second the authors tend to know which blog they're most proud of. Not everyone has read through the last 12 months of someones blog and the tendency is to nominate recent posts.
Hope this helps.
Having the bloggers nominate their own post also gives them the opportunity to showcase what THEY like about their blog.
I like Clare's suggestions. I was thinking of nominating a couple of my own posts I liked but thought that might be a little self-serving. I do like that idea of nominating a post from your own blog in order to showcase what you like about it.
I've read through quite a few blogs on my sidebar from the time they first started but when I started there weren't that many other Nunavut blogs I knew about. I can imagine if I was to do that now it would take a heck of a long time - and there are just so many good posts out there, that picking one is a very difficult task.
One idea for a category I wish I would have suggested for the Nunies is something like "Best of Funniest Northern tale or experience" which I know is very similar to Best Post but it might be a good one for Luddites like myself with lacking camera skills. I know from Clare's blog that he has tons of interesting tales and I like to think I've built up my own little store of interesting adventures over the past few years. I just have to get off my posterior and start writing them down more.
